Back in 2021, NBC announced that it would not broadcast the 2022 Golden Globes. “We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform,” the network said in a statement (via Variety) at the time. “However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.” Well, “Hollywood’s Party of the Year” is back on NBC in 2023 “as part of a one-year agreement.” Frances Berwick, chairman of Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a press release: “We recognize the HFPA’s commitment to ongoing change and look forward to welcoming back the Golden Globes to NBC for its landmark 80th Anniversary in January 2023.” Meanwhile, Helen Hoehne, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said, “It’s great to be back at the Beverly Hilton for the must-see celebration recognizing the best in film and television. The HFPA remains committed to important changes and supporting programs that prioritize diversity, inclusion, and transparency.” In Sept. 2022, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the addition of 103 new international voters. “This signifies the first time in the Association’s history that a group of non-member voters has been added to select the nominees and awards, doubling the size of the voting body while increasing its diversity,” the HFPA noted. “We have seen first-hand the dedication of the HFPA as it continues to modernize and act on its important mission,” Adam Stotsky, president of dick clark productions, said in a statement. “We’re excited to produce the show that kicks off award season and supports so many here in Los Angeles and impacts artists across the globe.” According to the HFPA, the 2023 awards show will be celebrating its milestone anniversary with “iconic stars from TV and film.” As the stars descend on the Beverly Hilton, here is everything you need to know about the 2023 Golden Globe Awards.
