Debating whether or not to get on the keto bandwagon? The keto diet has become increasingly popular with celebrities such as Kourtney Kardashian and Vanessa Hudgens raving about the results. The main questions people have when starting this diet are “what is keto-friendly?” and “what stores sell the best products?” Well known for their affordable prices and selling in bulk, eating keto at Costco is easy because it has tons of foods that will meet your keto diet needs.

What is the keto diet?

The ketogenic diet is a low carbohydrate diet that’s high in fat and protein. By limiting carbs, your body goes into a state of ketosis, a metabolic state where the body burns fat for fuel.  “Ketosis occurs when your body doesn’t have enough glucose (its preferred energy source) to burn for fuel, so instead, it starts to grab stored fat and use that for energy instead,” says Cassy Joy Garcia, certified holistic nutritionist and author of Cook Once Dinner Fix.  “This process results in a high level of ketones in the body. Typically, keto diets require carbohydrates to be somewhere between 5-10% of total calories/day, protein to be 20-35% of total calories/day and fat to be 65-75% of total calories/day.” Ready to start shopping?
